Introducing POM Industries to the RSG Proving Ground

POM Industries Running Glove with PepperSpray

In the world of EDR (Every Day Run) gear, there is a critical window we call the Reaction Zone. It’s that 5-to-15-foot radius where a potential threat is identified, but you still have the time and space to dictate the outcome.

To bridge that gap, I am officially bringing POM Industries into the RSG Proving Ground for elite-level field testing.

Why POM?

POM has built a reputation for high-performance safety tools that are designed for people on the move. We aren’t just looking at these as “pepper spray”; we are looking at them as foundational safety layers.

The “Proving Ground” Testing Lineup

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be putting the following POM essentials through the ringer on the road and trails:

  • The POM Clip Model: This is the EDC (Every Day Carry) powerhouse. We’ll be testing its accessibility when clipped to waistbands and hydration vests. Does it stay put at Mile 15? We’re going to find out.
  • The POM Runner: Designed specifically for us. This model features a high-grade elastic hand strap for immediate “hand-held” readiness. I’ll be testing the ergonomics during high-cadence intervals to see if it interferes with natural running form.
  • The POM Personal Safety Alarm: Not every threat requires a deterrent; sometimes you just need to draw eyes to your location. We’ll be testing the decibel clarity and the “accidental trigger” resistance during technical trail descents.

What to Expect

POM Industries Personal Safety Alarm

At RunSafeGear, we don’t do “unboxing” videos and call it a day. These items are being added to The Deal Cave and will undergo a full “Truth-Telling” evaluation.

I’ll be looking for:

  1. Deployment Speed: How fast can you go from “Running” to “Ready”?
  2. Grit Resistance: How do these units handle New England mud, sweat, and rain?
  3. The “Forgot It Was There” Test: If gear is uncomfortable, you won’t carry it. Period.

Preparation for Success

Safety starts with awareness, but it’s finished with preparation. Whether you are pounding the pavement at 4 AM or hitting a remote trailhead solo, your “Safety Stack” needs to be reliable.

Stay tuned to our YouTube channel and the RSG Proving Ground Facebook Group for the live field-test footage.

Run Safe. Be Safe.
